LRBC Nursery named for Iantha McKinley

Sis. McKinley retires after 49 years of service to LRBC

When Sis. Iantha McKinley shared with Pastor Quincy that she was ready to step down from the Lee Road Baptist Church Nursery he knew exactly what to do.  He met with members of LRBC to discussed ways to improve the nursery and then he approached the Church Board with an idea "Let's name the nursery in honor of Sis. Iantha McKinley.  Without hesitation hands went up and after a unanimous vote it was just a matter of when.  On Sunday, March 16, 2014 flanked by members of her family, Sis. McKinley was called forward at which point she exclaimed "no you're not" to which Pastor Quincy responded "yes, we are!"  Moments later a plaque was hoisted in the air with the words Iantha McKinley Nursery.  Overwhelmed, Sis. McKinley was given a gold and glass clock and a plant with flowers from the children of LRBC.  After the ceremony LRBC members who had been in the nursery joined current nursery goers in a photo with Sis. McKinley.  After the service cake and punch was served in the nursery, which now bears her name.  Thank you for 49 years of service Iantha McKinley.  The nursery will continue to undergo improvements and will reopen on Easter Sunday morning.  Photos below.
